SLYC’S FIRST EVER INCLUSIVE CHOIR!

SHINE, an inclusive ensemble for students in grades 6-12 and special education students through age 22, is a choir that removes barriers for neurodivergent students and students with cognitive, physical, or neurological disabilities. Unlike a traditional audition-based or ability-segregated ensemble, SHINE will be open to any student who wants to sing, while incorporating adaptive teaching strategies and individualized supports that enable singers with a wide range of abilities and needs to meaningfully participate. Through choir and ensemble skills, musical games, friendship, and plenty of fun, singers will build a strong musical foundation while learning how to #getSLYC—Serve, Lead, Spread Joy, and Care.

Enriching Musical Experiences

Being a SLYC Singer means being a part of an elite singing ensemble. The South Loudoun Youth Chorale aims to elevate the choral arts in our community through excellent musical repertoire and experiences which are truly world class.

Uplifting Our Community

The South Loudoun Youth Chorale will impact local music programs and increase enrollment and participation in choral music classes throughout the greater Loudoun area. SLYC Singers must be enrolled in their choral music program in order to become members, and will serve as leaders and ambassadors of choral music to their peers.
