Enchant is the final step in SLYC’s non-auditioned choir pathway—a place where 5th and 6th grade singers build the skills they’ll need to thrive in our auditioned performance choirs while continuing to discover the joy of singing.
Rehearsals combine engaging, age-appropriate activities with an increasingly traditional choir experience. Singers dive deeper into music literacy, vocal technique, harmony, listening, and ensemble skills—all while making friends, growing in confidence, and learning what it means to #getSLYC.

Build healthy vocal technique, explore your developing voice, and learn to sing with confidence and expression.

Strengthen music literacy and develop the independence to navigate increasingly challenging music.

Bring it all together on stage through SLYC concerts and occasional community performances.

Not at all. Enchant welcomes singers with a wide range of experience. Some have sung in choirs for years, while others may be joining an ensemble for the first time. Our Elementary Music Specialists help singers develop the skills and independence they need to grow successfully.

That's okay! Enchant is a training choir—that's the point. Singers aren't expected to arrive with everything figured out. They'll develop their voices, musicianship, and confidence throughout their time in the ensemble.

Singers may have up to two absences per concert cycle. Enchant performs in SLYC's annual Tidings of Joy holiday concert and spring performance, with occasional optional community performance opportunities throughout the season.

Enchant is the final step in SLYC's non-auditioned training choir pathway. Singers develop the musicianship, rehearsal skills, and independence that prepare them to audition for SLYC's older performance ensembles, including Illuminate and Fortify.
