SLYC Audition Workshops connect singers with accomplished music educators and industry professionals who bring deep experience as conductors, clinicians, adjudicators, and teachers.
Our workshop faculty understand what happens on both sides of the audition process. They know what adjudicators are listening for, where singers commonly struggle, and how to turn preparation into confident performance.
Most importantly, they're educators. Singers leave with practical feedback, useful strategies, and tools they can continue using long after the workshop ends.

Questions before you register?
Every audition is a little different, but preparing for one shouldn't feel like a mystery. Here's what to know before joining us for a SLYC Audition Workshop.

Our workshops are designed for middle and high school singers preparing for specific honor choir auditions. Eligibility varies depending on the workshop, so check the Upcoming Workshops section above for the grade levels and audition associated with each event.
You do not need to be a current SLYC singer to participate.

Come familiar with any audition music or materials you've already received, but you don't need to have everything mastered. That's why we're here!
Specific preparation instructions, music, and other materials will be provided to registered singers when appropriate for the workshop.

Bring your audition music and materials, a pencil, a refillable water bottle, and anything specifically requested in your registration confirmation.
Because each workshop is built around a different audition, registered singers will receive any additional event-specific instructions before the workshop.

A mock audition gives singers the opportunity to experience the audition process before the real thing. You'll perform in an audition-style setting, work with experienced choral educators, and receive constructive feedback about both your musical preparation and the audition experience itself.
The goal isn't to add pressure—it's to remove some of the unknowns so you can walk into the real audition knowing what to expect.
