Ignite gives 3rd and 4th grade singers a place to grow their love of music while building the skills that help them become confident young musicians.
Through singing, movement, musical games, and age-appropriate rehearsal experiences, singers strengthen their voices, develop music literacy and ensemble skills, and begin taking greater ownership of the music they make—all while building friendships, having fun, and discovering what it means to #getSLYC.

Not at all. Ignite welcomes singers with a wide range of musical experience. Our Elementary Music Specialists meet singers where they are and help them develop their voices, musicianship, and confidence along the way.

Ignite rehearsals are designed specifically for 3rd and 4th graders. Singers learn through a combination of singing, movement, musical games, and ensemble rehearsal—building real musical skills while keeping the experience active, engaging, and fun.

Singers may miss up to two rehearsals per concert cycle. Ignite performs in SLYC's annual holiday concert, Tidings of Joy, and our spring concert, with additional optional community performance opportunities offered throughout the season.

As singers grow, they can continue their SLYC journey in Enchant, our training choir for grades 5–6. Enchant builds on the foundation established in Ignite and begins preparing singers for the transition into SLYC's auditioned performance ensembles.
