Financial assistance is available to qualifying families. We believe cost should never be the reason a young person can't experience SLYC.

Auditioning for SLYC
Illuminate, Elevate, and Fortify are placement-by-audition ensembles. Our audition process gives our artistic team an opportunity to hear each singer, learn a little about them, and help determine the ensemble experience that's right for them.
WHAT TO EXPECT
VOCAL RANGE
We'll guide singers through a brief vocal range check so we can better understand their voice.PREPARED SONG
Prepare up to 60 seconds of a song to sing a cappella. Choose something that allows us to hear you at your best.No prepared song? No problem—we'll use “Happy Birthday.”
BRIEF INTERVIEW
We'll finish with a few questions to get to know you. These questions help us understand your interests and your comfort working, learning, and making music as part of a group.
SCHOOL MUSIC PARTICIPATION
SLYC singers in grades 7–12 are expected to participate in a music ensemble at their school—choir, band, orchestra, or guitar—as a condition of participation in SLYC.
We believe strongly in supporting school music programs. SLYC is designed to complement and strengthen a singer's school music experience, not replace it.
