No school? Come sing with us.
Turn a day off from school into a day of music, friendship, and fun with SLYC. Find Your Voice Days are one-day choir experiences held on select LCPS student holidays.

GOOD TO KNOW
Questions before you join us?
Find Your Voice Days are designed to be easy, welcoming one-day experiences. Here are a few things families often want to know before registering.
-
Find Your Voice Days are led by SLYC's dedicated staff of elementary music specialists—experienced educators who know how to make music engaging, meaningful, and fun for young singers.
They're assisted by our fantastic SLYC student volunteers, older singers who embody our core values: Serve. Lead. Spread Joy. Care. They're friendly, kind, enthusiastic role models who help younger singers feel welcomed, included, and part of the SLYC community from the moment they arrive.
-
Not at all! Find Your Voice Days welcome singers with all levels of musical experience—including children trying choir for the very first time.
There's no audition and nothing to prepare ahead of time. If your child loves to sing, enjoys music, or is simply curious about what choir might be like, they're ready for a Find Your Voice Day.Description text goes here
-
That's completely okay—and they won't be the only one! Making connections is an intentional part of the day.
Through singing, games, movement, and group activities, our staff and student volunteers help singers get comfortable with one another quickly. We want every participant to leave having made music and feeling like they found a place in the SLYC community.
-
Singers spend the afternoon learning music, playing games, moving, creating, and getting to know new friends. Our elementary music specialists balance focused music-making with plenty of opportunities to play, connect, and have fun.
At 4:00 PM, families are invited back for an informal showcase where singers share what they've accomplished together—in just one afternoon!
-
Every first-time participant receives their own Find Your Voice Days T-shirt. Returning singers should arrive wearing their FYV Days shirt so we're all ready to represent our community together.
All singers should bring snacks and a refillable water bottle and wear comfortable clothes and shoes that allow them to move and participate throughout the day. Singers attending Before Care should also pack a lunch.
-
Optional Before Care begins at 8:30 AM for families who need an earlier drop-off before the full Find Your Voice Day program begins at noon.
The morning is relaxed and supervised, with games, crafts, activities, and free time led by our SLYC team. Before Care participants should bring a packed lunch, and we'll eat together before the afternoon FYV Day experience begins.
Before Care is an additional $35 and can be selected during registration.
